This is the most personal aspect of developing the face of your business. In many cases a prospective client will see your brand before they see you or your business. So in many respects it is like placing your best foot forward. Your brand is not only a logo, an image or icon, it is the representation of all of the parts of your business and its philosophy. Here are some ideas we keep in mind when developing a brand:
- Build a brand that influences a culture, not an individual. Draw on perceptions that move people.
- Make the point visually, and make it scream. Make it stand for something, the viewer will either love it or hate it.
- Generations are only getting smarter about the big picture. Don't insult them by designing down to them.
- The old saying "bad publicity is still good." no longer applies. Make no mistakes or it will cost you, and people don't forget or forgive as easily as you think they do.
- And most of all, convey what are you trying to say?
